The Africa Business Club at Harvard Business School extended the early-bird deadline to Jan. 31 for tickets to the 17th Annual Africa Business Conference, the world’s largest student-run event focused on business in Africa and the largest conference about Africa outside of the Continent.

By bringing together students and professionals focused on doing business in Africa, the conference serves as a platform for discussions on relevant issues and events, and a key networking opportunity for business and community leaders, current and prospective Harvard MBA students and alumni, students from other graduate programs, and educators from around the world. Close to 1,500 participated in the 2014 conference.

Scheduled this year for Feb. 27 to Mar. 1 on the campus of Harvard Business School, the conference carries as its theme, “A More Inclusive Africa: the Pursuit of Progress for All.” According to conference co-chairs Nneka Ezeigwe and Leo Markel, the theme puts front and center the contention that the continent’s rapid growth cannot be sustained if it does not benefit all Africans.

“While the story of Africa’s stellar growth has been amply celebrated in recent years, we believe opportunities to make it more inclusive and generate sustainable progress for all are the next chapter of Africa’s story,” they said in a joint statement. “We want to inspire conversations that drive actions, which ultimately lead to the type of far-reaching progress that we envision for Africa. We hope to celebrate Africa’s successes, but also talk about the opportunities and innovative solutions to conquer the challenge.”

The conference agenda includes interactive panels, a new venture competition, targeted networking lunch, and keynote addresses by distinguished speakers. Keynote speakers include IT millionaire Ken Njoroge, co-founder and CEO of Kenya-based Cellulant Corp., one of Africa’s leading technology businesses in the mobile and digital services sector; Arunma Oteh, director general of the Security and Exchange Commission of Nigeria; and Fred Swaniker, founder and CEO of the world-class African Leadership Academy.

The goal is to discuss and debate important African business and leadership topics, and establish connections that will last beyond the conference weekend. An after-party will feature musical performances by prominent Nigerian artists Banky W and Kaline.

Conference information and hotel recommendations, as well as panel and keynote speaker details, are available at the conference website, and you can join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter, @HBSABC.
